Awards and Recognition

Student Recognition
Our recognition program designed to encourage and celebrate academic success. Students demonstrating good citizenship have the possibility of being awarded in one of four ways: 4.0 grade point average, 3.5 or higher grade point average, 0.50 grade point average improvement, or 3.0 or higher grade point average. Students are rewarded at a special celebration with school privileges, prizes, and business discounts.

8th Grade Awards
Each year the HJH Staff chooses two 8th grade students for our "High Achiever Award". Soroptomist Club also awards one student. The Soroptomist award is the highest honor. All nominees are asked to write a summary of their accomplishments. The three honors are given to the students chosen by HJH faculty as being the most deserving. These are students with high academic honors who are also actively involved in school and community.

Greypup Drawings
Greypup Cards are awarded by any staff member to students for positive behavior. Greypup Cards are turned in to the office and a drawing is held on a regularly scheduled basis.

Outstanding Students
At the end of each grading period, each teacher picks one outstanding academic student and outstanding citizen from his/her classes. The teachers are free to use whatever criteria they choose. Outstanding students are honored before the student body.

8th Grade Field Trip
Eighth graders take a field trip to celebrate the culmination of their two years at HJH. As with all school field trips, it is considered a privilege to participate and certain standards must be maintained to earn this privilege. In order to participate, students must be on track to graduate and have good citizenship.
